SPA ETIQUETTE

Below is some general information to help you know what to expect, feel at ease and make your experience with us as pleasant as possible. You will be entering a tranquil space designed to provide a rare escape from life’s stresses, and so long as you remember the below, you - and your fellow guests - will have a wonderful Hammam and Spa experience.

Dresscode

Swimwear must be worn in the Hammam and Spa. We recommend a two piece swimming costume for ladies if having a Peel and Foam treatment as it gives easier access to the back and abdominal area (a one piece is fine for general use of our facilities), and swimming trunks for men. Nudity is not permitted in any public areas of The Old Hammam & Spa, including all of our facilities. No cream or oils should be applied to the body before coming to The Old Hammam & Spa and we recommend that you bring a plastic bag for your wet items after your visit.

What to expect

On your first visit, you will be required to fill out a consultation form which consists of a general health check. This is to ensure we can best look after you during your experience with us. You will not have to fill this out again on subsequent visits.

We provide slippers, and if you require a towel, there is a £3 surcharge each or £5 surcharge for two (feel free to bring your own). Both towels and slippers are returned at the end of your experience. We have individual male and female changing rooms each with 40 lockers. Our changing room lockers require a £1 coin which you get back at the end.

It is compulsory that swimming hats/shower caps are worn over hair that is below ear length when using our swimming pool and spa. Feel free to bring your own, alternatively, shower caps are available to purchase at the reception for £1 each. It is mandatory that all of our guests shower before and in between using each of our facilities.

The recommended time spent in each of our facilities is 15 minutes at any one time, i.e. Dry Sauna, Steam Room, Ice Room, Spa. The use of henna, hair dye, mud masks, creams, oils, cosmetics, nail clipping, any kind of hair removal, running, sexual activity and diving is not permitted anywhere in The Old Hammam & Spa, and body scrubbing is only permitted in our Hammam Room. Please use lockers provided as we accept no responsibility for the personal belongings of our guests and they are left at your own risk - we recommend that you leave valuables at home. If you observe any misconduct, please report to a member of staff. The use of electrical items are not permitted anywhere in our facilities and are used at your own risk.

CCTV is in operation for the security and safety of our guests and staff. They are not in any of our facility rooms apart from the swimming pool and spa, as well as communal areas.

Refreshing ice cold water will be regularly served to you by one of our coordinators throughout your experience. If you require any assistance, or have any questions, please feel free to let them know as they are always happy to help.

You may wish to hold a conversation with the therapist during a treatment such as a back massage, but do not feel obligated - our therapists are trained to recognise when a customer wants to be silent and simply enjoy their treatment.

Please see our opening hours for our Ladies, Gents, and Couples timetable. On Ladies Day's, all staff at The Old Hammam & Spa are female.

Last entry to The Old Hammam & Spa is 6.30pm Monday-Friday and 6pm on Sunday. If you arrive later than this, please be aware that we close at 10pm Monday-Saturday and 9pm on Sunday. You will only receive allocated time to enjoy our facilities up to closing time. Late arrival to your booking will shorten your treatment time.

You must be 18 or older to use the facilities and treatments at The Old Hammam & Spa. Guests who are pregnant or have given birth in the last 6 weeks are unable to use our facilities (with the exception of our Pregnancy Massage and Mums To Be package) and pacemakers are not permitted in our hot rooms.

Bookings

If you wish to make a booking in person or on the phone, we require a non-refundable full payment or £30 deposit per person for all packages and treatments. Please call us on 020 8807 3330 or come in at any time. Alternatively, you can use our online booking system here. We require a minimum of 24 hours notice when booking all packages and treatments. When booking online, please ensure that you are booking at least 48 hours in advance. In the rare event that our massage therapists become unavailable, we may have to get in touch to reschedule your booking.

When you make a massage appointment, the receptionist will book female guests with a female therapist and male guests with a male therapist. Our massage therapists are trained to the highest standard and respect all boundaries. During the treatment, feel free to speak up on anything you would like to be different, i.e. more or less pressure. Your comfort is the most important thing, and your therapist is there for you.

Please note that if you are late to your appointment we will only have the remaining time allocated. Amendments of bookings are to be made with a minimum of 48 hours notice where every effort will be made to reschedule to a more convenient time. In the event that you change your mind, or are unable to attend your booking, credit will be offered when a minimum of 48 hours notice is given. Failure to give notice will result in your deposit being held or the full amount being charged. All payments are non-refundable.

A £25 fee is applicable for any laser treatments that are not attended or cancelled/amended within 48 hours of appointment.

The Old Hammam & Spa endeavours to accomodate our guests wishes where possible. Please feel free to let us know if you have any requests or queries. Private hire is available for all occasions - please call for details.
